7 Tips for More Affiliate Money

By David

So that’s it, you’ve decided to make money with affiliate blogging? Good choice! But before you start this new adventure, it’s important to know some tips that will turn this activity into a very profitable business.

To help you in your education I’ve put together these helpful tips so that you get started correctly and continue to stay on the right path with your new journey.

Tip #1: Keep Distractions Away

This is advice I give to everyone no matter what business model they are going into.

Once you’ve decided your path, you need to stay completely focused on it.

If it’s not related to you making money as an affiliate blogger then to you, it does not exist.

This needs to be your mantra!

Ignore this tip and you will find yourself wandering from this business model to that business model and never making ANY money with anything.

And probably spending a whole lot of it!

Tip #2: Choose a Niche You Love or Are at Least Have Interest In

It seems obvious, but it’s also one of the best tips I can give you.

Remember that you’re going to have to write content (and lots of it!) on the same topic over and over again.

If you get tired of it after 3 articles, you won’t get very far in your journey.

However, if you can’t find a niche that you like or know a lot about, you can also pick a niche that you want to learn about. Want to get paid to learn? Then pick a niche you want to learn about.

Whatever you do though do not pick a niche you care nothing about or even worse dislike simply because you think it will be profitable.

You will get bored, lose interest, and be off chasing the next opportunity. You’ll never make any money in a niche this way.

Believe me, I’ve had to learn this lesson numerous times.

Don’t ignore this piece of advice!

Tip #3: Research Your Niche Before Committing to It

Don’t rush into anything once you’ve chosen your niche.

You need to research that niche and make sure that there are enough products that you can be an affiliate for that will get you to your income goals.

If not, then you will need to go back and pick another niche.

This is why in-depth research is so important before moving forward with your blog.

You don’t want to create a ton of content and then find you can’t make money with that content because there are no affiliate products for your niche.

Shouldn't You Be Writing Right Now?

Tip #4: Choose the Tools to Use and Stick to Them

You are going to need some tools to be successful in affiliate blogging.

The best thing is to choose all of them before you start, and then stick with them (don’t get distracted by all the wonderful shiny objects you’ll encounter!).

You’re going to find that there are so many tools for every little thing you’ll be doing in your business.

It’s easy to get lured into buying them all.

Just use the tools you need, and until they don’t work or you actually need something better just stick to the tools you already have.

Your tools will be things like a blog (WordPress is great for this) certain plugins to make your blog do what you want it to do, keyword research tool, video editing software, etc.

Make sure you’re aware of all the tools you’ll need and have them before getting started.

This will help with your productivity and keep you focused.

You won’t be looking at this thing and that thing and buying a bunch of stuff you don’t need if you follow this advice.

Tip #5: Content Is THE Key!

Don’t think that all you have to do is write mediocre content, include your affiliate links, and the money will magically pour in…

It does not work that way at all.

You need to research the hottest topics in your niche and create content around those topics.

And it needs to be better than any content already out there on that topic.

Even if you have to hire someone to write the content for you it’s way more profitable to create content that people actually want to consume than content they care nothing about.

You could create crappy content and make no money, or you could create really good content (even if you have to pay for it as I said) and actually make money with it.

Tip #6: Never Stop Learning

In your journey as an affiliate blogger, you will have to gather a lot of knowledge in various fields.

Content creation, marketing strategies, getting better conversions, and the list goes on and on.

This is a technology based business model, and technology is always changing.

You need to keep yourself up to date with these things.

New techniques and tactics are always being taught and you need to keep implementing new things so you don’t get stale.

Also, if you find better tactics and techniques you could save time and/or make more money.

Set time aside almost every day to continue your education!

Tip #7: My Biggest Tip of All

Don’t worry about “messing things up”.

Worst case scenario you will get a blog all setup and some content on it, and you won’t make a dime from it. You will have “wasted” some time will be the outcome.

That’s what you THINK!

But truly you didn’t waste any time. You took action and you learned, and that is worth a lot.

Now moving forward, you can either tweak your blog, change out products you’re promoting, improve your content, etc. or you can start all over again. If you choose the start all over again route, it will be much faster this time because you will know what you’re doing.

Bottom line… Don’t worry about messing up or failing.

Your first few times doing anything are never your best attempts.

Go into this with the mindset that you’re going to do your best, learn as much as you can, and if at the end of it you see little to no profits, you are at least more prepared for doing better and having a better chance at seeing profits on your next attempt.

The world is NOT going to end though, so don’t be scared or worried.

Just jump in and start doing!

So, with all of these tips, and especially that last one you’re ready to get the ball rolling.

Go start that blog!
